Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, Renowned Evangelist and PFN Founding Father, Dies at 80

Nigeria’s Christian community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, a revered evangelist and one of the founding fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). He was 80 years old.

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who founded and presided over the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), was a highly respected preacher, teacher, and evangelist whose ministry touched countless lives across Nigeria and beyond.

The UUEA, a non-denominational ministry headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has for decades been at the forefront of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, fostering worship, and strengthening Christian fellowship through evangelistic outreaches and large-scale crusades both locally and internationally.

Known for his passionate preaching and unwavering faith, Rev. Ukpai was a spiritual father to many and a unifying voice in the Nigerian church, especially within the Pentecostal movement. His legacy of faith, humility, and dedication to soul-winning continues to inspire generations of ministers and believers.

Tributes have begun pouring in from Christian leaders, ministers, and congregations across the nation, celebrating his life of impact and unwavering commitment to the cause of Christ.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family and the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association in due course.
