Tope Alabi, whose full name is Patricia Temitope Alabi, is a celebrated Nigerian gospel singer, film music composer, and actress. Born on 27 October, 1970, in Lagos State, Nigeria, she hails from Yewa in Ogun State.
She is widely regarded as one of the most influential and prominent gospel artists in Nigeria, known for her unique blend of traditional Yoruba musical elements, such as folk rhythms and proverbs, with contemporary gospel and worship music. Her powerful vocals and deep spiritual lyrics have earned her widespread acclaim and a massive following.
Tope Alabi studied Mass Communication at The Polytechnic Ibadan. She started her career in the Nigerian entertainment industry in the 1990s, initially working as an actress and composing soundtracks for Yoruba-language films, with over 350 soundtracks to her name.
She released her debut album, “Ore ti o Common” (Uncommon Favor), in 2000, which propelled her to national fame. She is married to Soji Alabi, who is also her music producer and manager, and together they run their music label, GOSPEL VIBES. They also established the MARDEBRA COMFORTER FOUNDATION, an NGO that supports the less privileged, and host the annual “Praise The Almighty Concert” in Lagos.
