Peterson Okopi (full name Adikwu Peterson Okopi), born on August 8, 1997, is a Nigerian gospel artist, worship leader, and songwriter. He hails from Otukpo in Benue State but was raised in Lagos on the Nigerian Air Force Base, where his father served. From a young age, Peterson was deeply involved in church music and began singing as a soloist in the children’s choir by age seven. His music journey took a significant turn when he participated in the Destiny Child Talent Hunt in 2015, where he placed third. He studied at Nigerian Air Force schools, earned a diploma in English from Yaba College of Technology, and pursued a degree in Mass Communication from the National Open University of Nigeria.
Peterson rose to prominence after signing with TWC Records in 2020. He released his debut single “Amazing God” in 2018, followed by hits like “Baba,” “Up to Something,” and his breakthrough album Òṣùbà in 2021. His vibrant live album Victory Dance further established his reputation as a passionate worship leader. Peterson is known for blending indigenous Nigerian languages with English in his worship music. In 2024, he got engaged and later married fashion designer Prudent Gabriel. Following a serious car accident in 2025, he shared his testimony publicly, expressing gratitude to God for sparing his life.
