Marianne Namshali Mdee, known professionally as Mimi Mars, is a Tanzanian singer, actress, and media personality. Born on 21 June, 1992, in Paris, France, she is the younger sister of prominent Tanzanian artist Vanessa Mdee. She began her music career in 2017 with her debut single “Shuga” and quickly became recognized for her soulful voice and blend of Bongo Flava, Afrobeats, and R&B, which has resonated across East Africa. She is also an acclaimed actress, having won a Tanzania Film Award for Best Actress.
Mimi Mars is signed to Mdee Music, a record label managed by her sister Vanessa Mdee. She was also part of Coke Studio Africa as an upcoming artist. Her discography includes an extended playlist “The Road,” which made history as the first EP by a Tanzanian female artist, and numerous singles such as “Una,” “Pole,” and “For You.” Her music is widely available on digital streaming platforms, and she continues to release new projects and collaborate with other notable East African artists.
