Matthew Joseph West is an American contemporary Christian musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born on April 25, 1977, in Downers Grove, Illinois. He initially dreamed of a career in professional baseball before pursuing music. Matthew West has been married to Emily West since May 10, 2003, and they have two daughters.

His music is primarily in the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) and Pop Rock genres. He is widely recognized as a prolific songwriter, having written over 38 No. 1 songs as an artist and for other musicians in both the Christian and country genres. He has released numerous albums, including the Grammy-nominated Brand New (2020) and My Story Your Glory (2023). Matthew West’s career has been supported by several record labels, including Universal South, Sparrow Records, Provident Label Group, and Reunion Records. He has also founded his own label, Story House Music, in partnership with Provident Label Group.
