Johnny Mac Powell, known professionally as Mac Powell, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Born on 25 December, 1972, in Clanton, Alabama, U.S., he gained widespread recognition as the frontman and co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning Christian rock band Third Day, which was active for nearly three decades. After Third Day’s farewell tour in 2018, Powell embarked on a solo career, exploring both Christian and country music.
Mac Powell has been associated with several record labels throughout his career. With Third Day, he released music through GrayDot Records and later Reunion Records, which is a part of Essential Records. For his solo Christian music, he signed with Capitol Christian Music Group, under which he released his debut solo Christian album, “New Creation.” He has also released country albums under the banner of “Mac Powell & The Family Reunion.”
