Born on 20 May, to Muslim parents in Tanga, Tanzania, her life’s trajectory changed when her mother embraced Christianity, leading to her parents’ divorce. She later moved to Dar es Salaam, where she became a prominent voice in East African gospel music, known for her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, often delivered in Swahili.
